Inspired by their U.S.-based COVID-19 Community Vulnerability Index—the Africa CCVI assesses 751 regions in 48 African countries on their ability to handle the social, economic, and health impacts of a COVID-19 outbreak. It is intended to help government leaders, health officials, researchers, planners and others stay one step ahead of the pandemic—by allowing them to drill down locally and design precise interventions for communities where a future outbreak could devastate the economy, the fragile health system, security, and food availability for years to come.
