Co-sponsored by Harvard College and the HDSI, the Summer Program for Undergraduates in Data Science is a ten-week program designed to provide a formative and substantive data science research experience while promoting community, creativity, and scholarship amongst Harvard College students.
SPUDS, which was initiated last year, supports Fellows with interests in computer science, mathematics, and statistics, including those who are interested in data science applications across the arts, humanities, sciences, and more.
The Fellows will work with Harvard-affiliated researchers and live in one of the Harvard College houses with other Fellows in the Summer Undergraduate Research Village. During the SPUDS experience, Fellows will participate in rich evening programming, including both social and academic activities, and become members of the vibrant, driven, and intellectual summer community at Harvard. This year’s Fellows will have the opportunity to hear presentations from faculty members Zak Kohane, Isaiah Smith Andrews, Venkatesh Murthy, Robert Gentleman, Chris Winship, Yiling Chen, and Hima Lakkaraju.
