Dr. Duan’s work focuses on developing statistical and machine learning methods to harness biomedical data for more precise and accurate diagnostics, individualized treatment strategies, and improved patient outcomes. Specifically, her research includes:
- Developing disease risk prediction models using electronic health records (EHR) and EHR-linked biobanks;
- Creating methods for detecting cross-phenotype associations and pleiotropy in high-dimensional data;
- Advancing federated learning and meta-analysis methods for evidence synthesis and data integration; and
- Designing methods to address the suboptimality of real-world data, including missing data and measurement errors.
