Lawrence leads and operationalizes HDSI-funded scientific programs, including external alliances, and oversees the Trust in Science project.
Lawrence’s professional mission has been to bridge the chasm between early-stage research findings and commercial development. He has extensive experience in biomedical research, scientific management, entrepreneurial ventures, and consulting. He was an Assistant Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital, studying cancer biology and resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. He has worked in privately funded life science ventures and pharmaceutical companies, fulfilling multiple roles including a scientific technical lead for an industry-academic collaboration as well as alliance and contract management.
Lawrence has consulted for early-stage life science startups, advising on research and business strategy, raising funding, and contracts. Lawrence has a PhD and MBA degree and is certified in alliance management.
