  • Reliable Evidence for Better Public Health Decisions
At a local health department, an epidemiologist scans fresh maps and lab results to decide which blocks need help first. We’re turning regulated data and field surveillance into guidance that moves help where it’s needed, fast. • Exposing Power and Risk in Food Systems
When weather swings or trade routes falter, the ripple effects reach dinner tables and national budgets. We’re making those pressures visible—who can supply, who depends, and where shortfalls may hit first. Food Power and Food Insecurity Project Lead: David Yang What we’re building What it enables Climate Change and Volatility in Food Supply: Historical contributions to and future implications for food insecurity Project Leads: Peter Huybers What we’re building What it enables About the AWS Impact Computing Project at HDSI Launched in 2022, the AWS Impact Computing Project is a collaboration between HDSI and AWS. • Nutrition Security Under Changing Conditions
At a rural clinic, a health worker records a child’s weight; at a market, a parent chooses what fish to buy. We’re translating real-world signals into timely guidance that supports nutrition security and public health. • Announcing Four New AWS Impact Computing Projects
HDSI is excited to announce the launch of four new research projects supported by the AWS Impact Computing Project at the HDSI. These projects span all three subject areas prioritized by the AWS collaboration, namely climate change/mitigation, food security, and social determinants of health. The project titles and principal investigators can be viewed here.  These new awards bring the total number of funded projects under the AWS sponsored research program to six. The result is a research “cluster” aimed at generating creative strategies and tools for accelerating solutions to address urgent global crises. The goal is to achieve meaningful and durable social impact…
